Consistency, that's what I expected from Din Tai Fung and always leave with high satisfaction.  The Taiwanese restaurant which is famous for it's ridiculously delicious soup dumplings (xiao long bao) really is something we don't want to miss on our trip to Sydney. I'd say they make the best soup dumplings in the country. If you are a soup dumpling addict and love to eat freshly made juicy soup dumplings served in bamboo basket direct from the kitchen stove to your table steaming hot, then this is exactly the place where you are looking for. Pay them a visit, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Oh, one thing to remember, go there on a weekday for lunch rather than dinner in a weekend as there's no booking available and the queue could be longer than expected.

What we order:
Lychee mint juice
Strawberry mocktail
Silky tofu with pork floss and century egg
Wonton in spicy sauce
Egg and prawn fried rice
Prawn siu mai
Crab meat soup dumplings
Pork soup dumplings

No doubt their top quality soup dumplings are the best sellers and I'm deeply in love with the crab meat ones. The wrapping skin is tender, smooth and thin, the fillings are done beautifully and you can watch all the making process through the giant glass kitchen window. How good is that.

Here's what I copied from their website:"every dumpling pastry is delicately handmade to measure between precisely 4.8 to 5.2 grams at conception, with an exact 6cm diameter, before being stuffed to weight between 20.6 to 21.4 grams. All this and the promise that the food can be made fresh in in front of your eyes, steamed in exactly three minutes and on your table in seconds." That's pretty serious dumpling business we are talking about here.

I'm going to Shanghai, China this September for a business trip where's the origin of these soup dumplings. And I'm definitely going to report back if I could find something better or as good as Din Tai Fung's. I'm very excited already!
